We often read that something is a successful blend of modernity and tradition. But the real challenge is to preserve the original and ancient while bringing modernity to life. At Ciasa Somür, the history of Val Badia and South Tyrol remains undiluted and pure. Maintaining it is the task of the Willeit family, who have been renovating the Somür for the past ten years. Carefully and with great sensitivity, they are bringing it back to life – and into the modern day. Work like this has to be undertaken with great caution, since the ancient walls need to be uncovered meticulously. The Somür will once again become an important building – exactly as it once was – only even more beautiful.

Walter

is the owner of Ciasa Somür. This house, on which he has been working for more than a decade, has proven to be a great passion of which he has never tired. His wish is for every guest to enjoy a relaxing and inspiring journey through time to explore the Ladin culture of days gone by. He plays several instruments, sings in the church choir and knows his homeland like the back of his hand. As guests of Somür, he will accompany you on your hikes and cycle rides and tell you some of the secrets of Val Badia and the history of the Ladins.

Carmen

is Walter's wife. She has a broad range of experience in gastronomy and is more than capable of preparing dishes of all kinds. Her flavours, be they savoury or sweet, are hard to resist. Her great passion is preparing traditional dishes, such as Schlutzkrapfen (half-moon-shaped ravioli), Tultres pastry pockets, strudel, various types of dumplings and last but not least, "Crafuns mori" (lingonberry jam doughnuts). She caters to our guests culinary needs on a morning by putting together first-class tailor-made breakfast baskets.
